HOW DOES TRAVELLER'S THROMBOSIS HAPPEN?
People who take long trips usually have to sit for a long period of time without having much space for their legs. This lack of movement can result in blood congestions in the veins of the legs. If the blood flows too slowly, small clots can form. When these clots grow and obstruct the veins, it is called thrombosis.  In extreme cases, this clot can break loose from the vein, move to the lung and lead to pulmonary embolism.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE?
The venous blood must be transmitted from the feet upwards against the force of gravity, through the veins in the legs and up to the head. The veins can't manage this alone. They need the "pumping" action of our leg muscles. When we don't move enough our leg muscles can't contract sufficiently and don't have the power to pump the blood back up through the veins.

A FEW HINTS TO REDUCE THE RISK OF TRAVELLER'S THROMBOSIS:

  • Don't sit with your legs crossed.
  • Drink a lot of liquids - drinking water, tea and juice are best.
  • Avoid alcohol. Alcohol relaxes the muscles and slows down movement of blood through your veins.
  • Do not drink too much coffee because coffee dehydrates the body.
  • Wear comfortable clothes - wide trousers and light shoes.
  • Get up and walk around at least once an hour.
  • Wear Juzo Travel stockings. They offer excellent protection against traveller's thrombosis.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR LEGS WITH NOTICEABLE RESULTS!
Exercise, healthy nutrition, alcohol-free drinks and comfortable clothes are important, but don't stop there. You can do even more by giving your legs relief and support.

Juzo Travel stockings can help you. A mild graduated compression increases the circulation of blood through the legs and provides relief for:

  • Tired acing legs
  • Mild swelling
  • Minor varicose veins

(Should symptoms persist, please consult your Doctor. You may require a prescribed and professionally fitted Juzo compression stocking.)

DO YOU KNOW HOW YOUR LEGS ARE DOING?
Many people are threatened by thrombosis. According to expert estimates, more than 22 million people are suffering from vein disorders. Although everyone has some risk of getting thrombosis, some people are more likely than others to have leg problems when travelling. Look over the checklist below to find out if you are one of them:

  • Do you have a predisposition for thrombosis?
  • Do you have heavy, tired legs in the evening?
  • Do you often have swollen legs?
  • Are you pregnant?
  • Are you on the birth control pill?
  • Are you overweight?
  • Do you smoke?
  • Do you have plans for a long-distance flight?
  • Do you make long train or car trips?
  • Are you middle-aged or older?

If you have checked one or more of the above-mentioned items, you should consider wearing support stockings to help support your veins and make things easier on your legs.
